Carbohydrates and weight loss

Overweight. A social problem, slowly but surely. In the Netherlands, 40 percent of the population suffers from some form of obesity. Maybe you also suffer from obesity and want to lose weight (quickly)? In this blog I give you tips and insights.

Crash diet
First of all, when losing weight, make sure you do this in a healthy way. A crash diet is not the solution for this, because it will only make you heavier in the end. The best, fastest and healthiest way to lose weight is to drastically change your lifestyle. And so are your eating habits. A diet that fits in with this is, for example, a low-carbohydrate diet. This diet helps you lose weight by limiting the number of carbohydrates in your diet. This causes your body to use fat as a fuel, with the result that your fat reserves decrease and you eventually lose weight.

What to do and what not to do
So my motto is to limit the number of carbohydrates you take. But not all carbohydrates are bad by definition. The main thing is that you drastically reduce the so-called fast carbohydrates. These fast carbohydrates are seen by your body as sugar, but you certainly don’t always taste the sweet taste you’re used to. The products with a lot of sugar should be avoided. But other products also contain fast carbohydrates that you can better avoid when you want to lose weight. Here are a few examples of these products:

White pasta
White bread (all types)
White rice
Potatoes
Candy
Cake
Soft drink
Ready meals
Fruit juice from suit

These products contain a lot of fast carbohydrates. But don’t be afraid that you won’t be able to eat a sandwich or enjoy a delicious homemade pasta. Atkins has products that are low in carbohydrates, including bread and pasta. You can eat these products without having to worry about getting (too much) sugar. You can vary with the filling on your bread: cheese, salmon, herb cheese, healthy, and so on. And the pasta can be combined with many different sauces. To give you a helping hand, Atkins has a number of recipes on its website. If you don’t know what to eat tonight, take a look and don’t fall back on a ready-made pizza or a microwave meal.

Don’t forget breakfast
Besides reducing carbohydrates, breakfast is the secret of slim people. By eating breakfast, you put your metabolism to work. After a night of fasting your body is ready for some action. Breakfast stimulates your digestion and your bowel movements, this is a good start to the day. It also prevents you from getting hungry in the morning and then snoring.
This way you see that fast and healthy weight loss doesn’t mean that you can’t or shouldn’t eat anymore! Well, eat a good breakfast and pay attention to the fast carbohydrates you should avoid. Good luck!
